Why The Name?

The name HANA was originally chosen because it is a play on the founders' name, Hannah. She liked how the four letters look together and because she had always known and liked that HANA in Japanese means Flower.

We become even more sure of the name every time we find out another meaning for the word. Our friend Brian told us that HANA means ‘one’ in Korean. Which is a lovely simple number, isn’t it?!

We discovered that HANA may have further meanings in Kurdish, Arabic and Hawaiian; Hope, Bliss and Craft or Work, respectively.

Wonderfully, in Maori, HANA means to shine, to glow, to give out warmth or radiance. And in Albanian, HANA means ‘moon’.

There are so many beautiful words that describe what HANA is about.

We're excited to share all of these things via simple pieces that can be used every day, for both Home and Industry.
